I have three dogs and two cats. Here is my elder dog (wiry coat dachshund). Her name is Glasha, she is 6 years old. She loves bathing and dreams to be a water-rat.  She is so little that sometimes she really looks like a rat.

I have a cat. I and my family love him very much! He is white. His name is Taras. He likes to sleep on a window-sill.

Polja, Taras is a wonderful name for a cat! Do you call him only Taras or does he have other funny names? Our dogs and cats have plenty of names. For example Glasha is Kozyavka.

"Wiry coat" means "жесткошерстный". It’s a term… In short… she has a beard and a moustache like a terrier.

I don't have a pet... When I was a boy I thought about having a dog. Now my son dreams about a dog or a cat too. But my wife has an allergy...And she doesn't want to have any pet.  We can't have even a hamster...

I'm a dog person and I've always wanted to have a dog. Not this cute little thing but a real dog, something like the german shepherd or my favourite one, the colllie. I've never had one. And my lifestyle in not dog friendly anyway.

My favourite breed is the airedale terrier.
My second dog is an airedale named Varya. And the third is a mongrel, her name is Sonechka.

I have three cats and one little rabbit. My first cat's name is ChuCha)) he is white  and he has different eyes: left is yellow and right is blue. He is very funny. My other cat's name is Stepa. He likes to go for a walk for ours on end! He likes his mother named Tysya. Tysya has caught all mice  in our house!
My rabbit's name is Roger. He is very timid. Roger is afraid of everything: loud sounds, quick movements and most of all when I take him in my hands.

It's really so. It's a "kurttshaar", but in USA it's named german pointer. Now she is 10 months old. But on the photo - in october - she was 5 months old. But why do you prefer dachshund if you are not a hunter? As for me the dog for hunting must hunt.

We wanted her to be a hunter but we had to change our plans. Is your dog a "real" hunter? Who trains her?

Roger's cheeks are so fluffy and pretty, that he looks like  a cartoon rabbit.

Yes, she is a real hunter. But now she is young and stupid yet. I hope after hunting season she would be a good hunter.

My family had four dogs when I was growing up, so it's not hard for me to deal with my pets now .

A.K.L., It's easy to keep cats. They walk outdoors all day long.  I must only feed them. And sometimes I wash them  :)  It's more easy to to deal with rabbits. I only have to tidy his rabbit-hutch and to feed him.  :)

No, I think he knows name Zaya because I and my mother often call him so. It is his "home name". And Zaya is his official name.  :)

I don’t have a pet. But I love them very much. Especially I like cats, because they funny, nice and sweet.   :)

By the way, I've got 5 furbabies at home. They got to me differently. One - the German Shepherd stayed with us after my Mom's passing away. Two (one cat and the chiwawa) were bought purposely. Another cat was brought by my elder son. I'm to blame if sometning is spoiled. They (pets) don't know the word SPOILED. It's useless to explain them the meaning of this word but YOU may prevent them from doing wrong things. How? Every problem has its solution  :) 

I'm not sure dogs don't know the meanings of some words. If it's necessary it's rather easy to explain them "the meaning". Your dogs know the word "walk/gulyat", don't they? :) Or, for example, “what is it!?/a eto chto!?”… 

I see what you mean and I can't help wondering how clever German Shepherds could be. Consider the folowing: we don't punish people who are insane so why should we punish animals which are supposed not to realise the impotance of some things?

Symax, :) why do you think I try to prove that it's necessary to punish our dogs?  I DO know and I AM sure that dogs understand the meanings of some words... For example "gulyat", "kushat' ", "eto cto takoye?", "idi na ruchky", "gde tvoy osheinik?", "idi na povodok", "tam mama prishla", "poyedem na ohotu", "podozhdi", "idi spat' ".

 You see,  I don't argue with you either. I know if a person has 3 dogs and  2 cats he/she is supposed to be kind and  amiable.  I just try to answer YOUR QUESTIONS properly and duly  :)
The very first question  do you punish your dogs? made me feel uneasy. I don't like topics connected with punishment  :(  I'd have used other synonyms like train or discipline. The word punish is rather strict so the tone and tune of the conversation became strict as well. I am not teaching I just express my feelings  :ah:

HA, it's easy to ask!
My answer is short: we have deep mutual understanding with our animals.

There is a joke:
The Dog thinks: Oh, my owner feeds me, treats me. He is my GOD!
The Cat thinks: Oh, my owner feeds me, treats me. I AM his GOD!

So, my cats train me to understand what whey want  :) I don't mind.
The small dog is like a tender baby dog and he tries his best to be dutiful.
The German Shepherd who is 8 is a very wise and obedient dog. It happened to him to have a very serious desease. Belive me, people mostly put their dogs to sleep in such cases but it was impossible for us even to think about such steps. So, it took us 4 months to be near  him day and night (while he was  lying) and it cost us a fortune because ... becase of his intellect. Now he is fine!

A year ago my dog was diagnosed with an awful disease which  most commonly occurs in middle-aged German Shepherds. My dog had a worse case. The treatment cost owners  a fortune and it cost us a fortune as well. So in such situations people usually kill put to sleep their dogs but we couldn't ... because of his intellect mind, РАЗУМ

Кстати, жаль нет функции редактирования, хотя бы на первые 5 - 15 минут, чтобы исправить ошибки или опечатки. Заметила the treatment  cost вместо costs, а не исправить  :(

Was it a problem with hind limbs?

I know what is it to put a dog to sleep. It's a very hard decision... 6 and 6.5 years ago we had to do it with two of our dogs, because it was impossible to do anything else. It was the last thing we could do to help them. Every next minute just increased their pain.  They were 12 and 10 y/o.

I love Labradors for their good-nature. I don't know much about the breed. I love Rych. :) And do you know anything interesting?

Luckily,  we joined PF-group (founded in 1998 USA). They helped greatly as they provided us with all necessary information on this issue. Now I know for sure - KNOLEDGE IS POWER!

Funny to say, but right now I know more about PFs than those 4 Russian vets who tried to cure my dog for a year, but in vain. Due  to their lack of knowledge on PFs we nearly  lost the dog.

Now he (Khan – он же Хан)  is completely OK. This illness can’t be healed, only cured and our dog is in remission. It's great we know what treatment works for him.

In PF-group newcomers are  welcomed:

Not all treatments work for all dogs.
Not all stories have a happy ending.
BUT.... we do have dogs in remission,

There is no instant "Quick Fix".
BUT.... we do have dogs maintaining a good quality of life.

There is no definite answer as to cause.
BUT.... there are suspected triggers.

Believe me, our story has a happy ending!  :)

I have a dog, his name is Argus - it is something from ancient mythology and four cats - one boy, his name is Kesha and three girls: Dymka (Дымка), Moonya and Kosha. Actually, Dymka is the mother of the rest cats. All my family loves our pets and we do not even imaging life without them. Of cause each of our pets has an own character and behaviour. As we live in privet house our cats usually sleep outside, though when it is cold winter they of cause sleep at home. Some times they like to sleep together. There was some box on the floor where i found them and made a photo.  I wonder how they did manage to fill all corners of the box  :)

I live with my parents, so they don't let me have a dog, especially a chow-chow. The chow-chow has a lot of hair (шерсть?).

That's awful!!! My parents were against of a dog in our flat, but struggled for having it :) Now I have MY BEST AND ONLY FRIEND, MY RRRRYCH!!! I'm happy. Honestly speaking, my parents are happy too. :)
