when I was in Europe - I was seeing there, many invalid people.
They was everywhere there.
In buses, in subway, in trains and planes.

There exist a develope infrastructure for them. It is a lifts and parapets, loaders in bus, vagon. Roads and sidewalks has a places for easily riding on wheelchairs.

Moreover, people that I saw, didn't seemed sad or weak. They were fun and busy by business of them. All of them live by full life almost without limits.
See this was very wonder for me. I have a habit that invalids must sit at home and don't prevent anyone.

Also they are working almost as normal people.

I was on a big plant for my deals, where all process is automated. Except one workshop. There I saw many ill people which by the way didn't seemed by ill and unhappy. I hadn't been identificate them as ill. Just after some time I understand who in front of me.

I ask owner of plant at once - What are they doing here? Very lot of them. You said me that hand work very expensive for you!

- All ok) -  he said to me - it's a social program. I get benefits from government if I can find a work for them.

Further I saw as they going home on bus. They was fun and pleased.

Realy invalids don't feel limited there.

"Invalids" is considered to be politically incorrect. "The disabled" or "the physically handicapped" are preferred.

OP, which country did you go to?
There is an organisation called Remploy who hire disabled workers in the UK, however it's faced cuts in its funding.

In Germany, employer has privilege from gov. for support of invalids. For German society would be better to give them job in such way, than just pay them allowance just like that.

By the way these people seemed fairly happy and busy on this job. I don't think that sit at home is better for them anyway. Conversation and fresh air on the way to the work, and changing of place. That's good.
