As for me, the situation still remains vague for we still don't know if their song or prayer to chase Putin away was actually performed. What I'm sure about is that the sentence was way too tough, which was silly as it drew more attention to the whole trial. Moreover, the reports about the trial show that the rights of these girls were wildly violated.
However, I can't say I support the action itself, I just didn't like it.

Well, to be honest, sometimes I do. But I try not to. I can't explain why. May be because the aim of these words is not to tell the truth, but to say something else.

I guess I would agree that the sentence was probably too harsh, but I think that the world media sometimes down plays the fact that the group went into an important historic building and caused a disturbance. Who else would expect to be able to do something like that without facing some kind of punishment?

From the historic point of view, the importance of this cathedral is dubious, as it was blown up back in the 20th century, and a swimming pool was built there. Much later, in the 90s the pool was removed, and the cathedral was built up again.
Actually, I don't like this performance and I think it might have offended lots of Christians, but the 'crime' was way too exaggerated. The girls should have been sentenced to public works (I guess that's how it's called, not sure though).
