Is it very hard to teach children when you are a student? My mothers friend asks me to teach her daughter who is 6 years old. I think I know English rather well, but I'm afraid because I don't have any experience. What is the main thing? Is it necessary to teach her phonetics and grammar? I'm waiting for your advices...

I don’t know how to teach small children English. I think that it is very difficult.  Though I have a small sister, I can’t teach her, because she doesn’t listen to me.

if you want to teach small students you should use a many pics at your work cause children have a special mind... and abilities in education... they can easy and fast remember new words and phrase... try and you will see... good luck...

I also have some little students, and it's great to help children to study English. I always try to make my lesson full of different kinds of activities: repeating new words (oral dictations), reading, translating phrases and short texts, writing (written dictation). Children like games very much, it's also better to use pictures during the lesson and of course speak English with your students although they are six.

My students are mainly 17 and above or 10 and under.

From my own experience, I can say that young children shouldn't be taught like grown-ups. You have to teach her new words and phrases without paying too much attention to grammar. Later when she becomes older you can introduce some rules. Now everything should be in the form of a game with some cartoon characters.
