I wouldn't call it purely BrE, although my American coursebooks don't have a special unit on HAVE GOT, but British coursebooks DO have it.
I'm not a big fan of HAVE GOT but I have to admit that Americans use it and quite commonly. What can be more American than Eagles. In one of their songs we hear:
What kind of love have you got?In one of my favorite Keb Mo's songs there's a line:
I ain't got no woman, but I don't feel sad.Aerosmith: Janie's Got A Gun.
And Tanya is right - GOT often takes the place of HAVE GOT in very informal AmE:
